Getting Started

If you’ve just joined UEA or haven’t used the Library for a while, you’ll need some key information to get started (and make sure you enjoy our resources as much as Belle above).

When is the Library open?

clockThis is an easy one: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So, we’re always open!

If you want more information about when key helpdesks are open, though, check out our opening hours in full: https://portal.uea.ac.uk/library/opening

How many books can I borrow?

If you’re a new undergraduate, you can borrow up to 10 books at a time – and you can renew your loans as many times as you like (unless someone places a request on them). If you’re a postgraduate or other type of Library user, you may be entitled to even more books at a time. Check out the full entitlements here: https://portal.uea.ac.uk/library/borrowing/entitlements

It’s not all about books!

A library collection is so, so much more than books. As a UEA student, you have access to a vast array of online resources. If you want to start exploring our collections right away, take a look at the following page, which introduces you to some of what the Library gives you access to: https://portal.uea.ac.uk/library/collections

Don’t worry, there is lots of information about finding books and other resources in our basic searching guide and a look at databases and more specialised tools in our advanced searching guide.

How do I get a Library card?

campus-card

Your Campus Card will act as your Library card while you’re at UEA so make sure you have it with you every time you visit – you’ll need it to swipe into the building as well as borrow the books!

Come and visit the Library

It’s your space, own it. To help you find your way to all the important parts of the Library building, why not use our information trail (you’ll need to login), which will help you familiarise yourself with the space?
